2018 Year in Review

January – This month started out the year absolutely the best that I could’ve hoped for.  It began with Garrett and me celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary.  Then not long after, I received my Florida Board of Professional Engineers license… woohoo!!  Also, this month, we utilized our Christmas gift from my parents by getting to experience Marvel Universe Live.  To top it off, we even got a backstage tour thanks to Mr. Justin Jackson… Thank you so much Justin!!  You and your brother were awesome in the show.  What a treat for us and the girls.  The girls also received a special treat from Papa V; their very own Cogsworth.  They were ecstatic!

Thank you Papa V.!
February – To start this month off, Garrett and I decided to treat my mom for all that she has done for us and the girls.  She watches them full-time and also is taxi for their extra-curricular activities much of the time; so she deserved an extra special treat.  I picked her up without her knowing where we were going or what the agenda was.  The surprise started with Amanda Kay joining us.  Then the weekend staycation involved an escape room (Dad and Garrett joined in on that surprise), wax museum, winery, Orlando Eye, Howl at the Moon, and… wait for it… matching tattoos… Yes we did!  It was one of the most amazing weekends ever and I was so grateful to get to experience that with my mom and sister.  Thank you Garrett for helping to pull that off and for your extra surprise.  Also, this month we went to the state fair with our friends the Goodman’s again.  That is always such a great time!!

March – This month Garrett and I had the pleasure to join the beautiful Showleys at an Orlando Magic Game, thank you so much for the invite and great time guys.  We also went to another Magic game as a family with my parents.  It was a joy to see Scarlett experience her first game.  This month we made sure to get out to Disney to see the parades and fireworks as well.  Oh, and Grace can now ride her bike without training wheels!  It was certainly a “magical” month.
Special visits with Ms. Cori and Ms. Lauren (Magic emcee and dancers!)

April – This month Garrett and I bought a new car to replace our Jeep… this one has more room and is extra special thanks to my most awesome Brother-in-Love Thiago!!  This month we also celebrated Grace’s birthday.  She was so excited to paint with friends and I was so excited for her.  I cannot believe we have a 6 year old now.  I also attended the ladies retreat this year with both my mom and sister at Lake Aurora Christian Camp.  Thank you Garrett for being understanding and allowing me this “me” time.  It was a very refreshing retreat.
New car and fun color!
Love my mom and sister!
Birthday fun with friends
May – This month included recital dress rehearsal, which you know Scarlett loved!  Grace’s school Christmas program and moving up ceremony were also this month.  We soon will have a 1st grader!
Aren't they cute!  Scarlett is 3rd from left.
Moving up ceremony and holiday show
June – This month the girls had horse camp and got to have fun riding, playing, and such at the barn.  The girls had fun with Nana doing all kinds of things (even holding alligators!).  Scarlett also had dance camp and her dance recital this month.  She was absolutely adorable as ever and we could not be more proud of her.  She likes to goof off in class, but stage time, she is all showmanship.  Amanda Kay, she must get some of that from you!
Alligator fun for the girls at the library

Dance brings this girl joy and it was so great to see her sister's support
July – This was another fun busy month.  Garrett and I started the month with the Daytona Coke Zero race.  We even camped at the track.  That was such an awesome experience!  Grace had her first horse show this month.  Needless to say she is now hooked!!  She did so great!  Scarlett is now 4!!  We had a great slip-in-slide party with a small group of people.  Scarlett was happy which makes us happy.  Grace got to experience her first “summer camp” at Lake Aurora Christian Camp.  That was one of the most wonderful experiences for her and me both.  We got o do the parent-child camp and she was nervous at first (understandably as she knew nobody else going), but she made some friends in no time and didn’t want to leave!
Love this guy!  Daytona here we are!
Happy 4th birthday princess!
This girl had a great time at her first horse show

Fun with friends at summer camp!
August – Can you believe it?!  Grace got into our choice school this year.  Last year she was #152 on the wait list… yes, you read that right.  This year we received a call the week before school started that there was a spot for her if we wanted it… YES we do!  Grace and Scarlett both started school this year at new schools (Grace in 1st and Scarlett in VPK).  For dad’s birthday this month, we visited an escape room and then went out to lunch (mom, dad, myself, Garrett, Amanda, and Thiago).  It was so nice to have us ALL together… sorry my girls, too young for escape rooms; Grace begged to go.  Big news this month too… Scarlett learned how to swim all by herself!!
1st Grade, her Grace comes!
VPK, here Scarlett comes!

September - We started the month with our 71st Annual Sheppard Reunion.  It was a blast of course!  On the way home we even surprised the girls and stopped by Russell Stover’s chocolate factory.  I surprised Grace this month with a mommy-daughter day just her and I.  We went painting and then out to lunch.  Daddy surprised Scarlett with a daddy-daughter day just the two of them.  They went to the fire station and out to lunch.  All in all, we four had some awesome 1 on 1 time with one another.  Big things happening too as Grace lost her 1st tooth!!  We ended the month by celebrating Garrett’s birthday at Cowboys.  It is always a wonderful time getting back to where our love story began and dancing the night away.

October – This month started great with the mother-daughter retreat at Lake Aurora Christian Camp.  It is so hard to pick a favorite camp as they are all wonderful (Ladies Retreat, Summer Camp, Mother-Daughter Retreat).  This one was fun as it was Grace and I’s first mother-daughter retreat experience and Grace’s friend Celine and her mom, my friend, Jeannine were able to also come.  We even got to bunk with them.  This month we had our annual Leeper Reunion, which is always a lot of fun too!  Guess who is now playing piano… Scarlett is a hoot and boy did she surprise us with how well she has taken to piano.  I’m very excited for this new activity of hers.  This month has also been a busy month at work with Hurricane Michael causing terrible devastation to our panhandle.  What a great experience visiting the staging site and seeing how our first responders are “living” during the restoration period.  Then we wound down the month with Halloween with our very own Princess Grace Kelley and Harley Quinn.

November – This month started with a beautiful wedding!  Congratulations Josh and Kennedy!!  It also included more horseback riding, piano lessons, and silks.  Oh… and I better not forget to mention, we visited Santa and had our traditional tree cutting!  We also celebrated Thanksgiving this month with a lot of family at Papa V.s house.  Time with family time well spent.  I had the privilege of helping at Grace’s school for her thanksgiving re-enactment day and I got to have thanksgiving lunch with Scarlett and Nana at Scarlett's school.  I also got to finish the month out by helping at Scarlett’s school for her St. Jude Trike-A-Thon.
My forever date!

December – As we are now into December, I am grateful for the blessed year we have had and all the traditions we have continued (including cutting our own Christmas tree!) and joy we've shared.  We are now looking forward to our family cruise this month.  It has been too long since cruising.  Last year was solely dedicated to studying and if I passed my test, I told Garrett I wanted to celebrate with a family cruise.  Well, that I did and that we are!  This year has truly been a blessing… We are thankful to see this year through and looking forward to what is to come in the next.   Merry Christmas from the Myers family!!  May God bless you beyond measure!
