A year and half!!

Over the last three months since my last post, Grace has been busy busy busy, as have Garrett and I  between work, home life, and extracurricular activities.  Grace is now a year and a half old and is oh so smart; sometimes too smart for her own good (those that have had toddlers know exactly what I mean).  It is when she is quiet that we have to really keep an eye out to see what she is getting into.
She absolutely loves animals and loves people.  I don't think we could have been blessed with a more sweet girl.  She is always so very happy (unless she has to get a shot from the doctor or is not getting her way).

So, what have we been up to these last few months???

We ended August with the Sheppard family reunion and then started September with Garrett and I getting to have a date night out to Night of Joy and had an absolutely wonderful time!!!!!!  Toby Mac stole the show by far for us that evening.  He was incredible!  It was just a great night of worshiping God, togetherness with my amazing husband, and an all around good time.   I also participated in the Color Run again with some friends and family.  We had a wonderful time (Despite losing a car-key along the run.  You'll have to ask my mom about that one, hehe... LOVE YOU MAMA!).  This month we decided to un-enroll Grace from MyGym.  Financially and just for Grace, we feel it was the best thing to do.  This gives us more time to do things on the weekend as a family, gives me a time to focus on "me" and has really simplified our lives.  We look forward to getting her into something again when she is just a little bit older.  And finally, we rounded out the month celebrating Garrett's birthday.  And since Garrett and I's birthdays are only two weeks a part, we celebrated both with a date night out to Melting Pot (SO YUMMY!)... what a treat that was!

October was yet another busy month.  We celebrated my birthday and Garrett and Grace sure did spoil me!  I was so excited and happy with the gifts that I received.  Garrett also finally got his new truck.  Those that know Garrett know that he has been wanting to get a truck for so long to use for hauling hay, wood, and playing in.  Well, we finally got it and to say he is one happy boy is an understatement.  Then later in the month we took a family trip to Blizzard Beach Water Park out at Disney and Grace did great!!  She lasted a good several hours before getting overly tired and she was a trooper... even did her first water slides all by herself like a big girl!!  We were so very proud of her.  Finally, we rounded out the month with Halloween and Grace was a cute little lady bug.  Family may remember when I was a lady bug at 2 years of age... well, we did it!  My mom and I recreated the same costume for sweet Grace and she looked absolutely adorable!!  Garrett had doubts that we'd be able to pull it off, but even he was pleasantly surprised and kept saying how great it looked and how cute she was in it.

Now, that brings us to this month... November.  This month started out rough as we got a call from KinderCare saying that Grace was not walking.  Yes, we were kind of in shock and immediately went to get her.  Sure enough she would not walk on her left leg at all and would only crawl to get anywhere.  If we tried to make her walk, she just cried.  So, we ultimately had to take her to the hospital ER and she got x-rays and blood taken.  They could not figure out what it was, as no bones were broke and she showed no other symptoms of anything.  After some doses of Tylenol and over a few days, she slowly started to get her walking back (Praise God).  Then she was diagnosed with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease.  That leads me to believe that the leg may have been a precursor to that.  Now all that is said and done with and our girl is back to 100%!  YAY!!  This last weekend, Garrett and I were invited with some friends from church to go out 4-wheeling with them and boy did we have a great time!!!  We got a little muddy, a little wet, and had an absolute BLAST!!

So, now we are here today and counting down the days until our Thanksgiving family vacation and Christmas family vacation.  I cannot believe how fast this year has gone.  Every week that comes and goes is just another week that our little girl is slowly but surely growing into a little girl... baby no more is she.

Nope No Baby

I figured I'd just start with this: Nope, no new baby expected :)  That is the #1 question I get asked lately... when can we expect number 2?  And, I couldn't believe how long it had been since my last post; so rather then let y'alls anticipation build, I just wanted to ease your minds, lol.  We do hope to have a baby #2 in the future, but we also are waiting on God's timing and God's will of course.

So, it has been a whole 2 months since my last post... that is just craziness!!  I'm so sorry for slacking lately :(  We have just been go-go-go as a family lately.  Grace is not only walking but RUNNING and climbing everything.  Work for both Garrett and I has picked up tremendously.  We both have been working overtime and he has been traveling a lot more.  It's been tough, but we are managing.  For all you single and working moms, I give you soooo much credit.  These weeks that Garrett isn't home are not easy.  With working 50-60 hour weeks, taking care of baby girl, the animals at home, and sticking to our regular routine (Church, MyGym, Laundry, Dishes, etc), it has been a real test for myself.  I have to give much credit to all of my support (mama, daddy, Amanda-Kay, Jason, etc).  Having you all to help with the animals, Grace Lynn, and just provide company in the evenings when I get home-sick (without Garrett), you all have been AWESOME and such a BLESSING!!

Here are just some snapshots of what you may have missed these last two months since my last post:

New Milestones

Since Grace's 1st birthday, we have busy busy busy and Grace has really blossomed into quite a WONDERFUL little girl with so much joy and personality.  Just as a quick recap, here is what we have been up to since then (in pictures and sorry for the mass amount).  Also, below the pictures is a list of some milestones that this girl has reached since just her 1st birthday (she ceases to impress).  Side note: PTL!!  She has not had a breathing treatment in about 3 days; we are trying to cut back and she seems to be adjusting well.  We will probably have to give her one tonight or tomorrow to help with her cough, but she is doing so much better this last week!

Family Pool Days:

Mother's Day [1st Foot Spa with Mommy at the Ladies Luncheon for Mother's day, Art for Mommy, Family Time at Church]:

1st Annual Girls Weekend [Jacksonville Zoo, 1st Trip to the Beach, and Just all around great time with my three favorite ladies (Mom, Sister, and Daughter)]:

She has also been to her MyGym classes many times; hoping to have some of those pictures for you soon :)  She enjoys every minute of her class and is doing so much better week by week.

And here are some milestones that we have seen in our little girl just since turning one!!

  1. No longer uses a bottle or pacifier at all
  2. No more baby food for our little girl
  3. Just cut her 3rd tooth (Top left)
  4. Knows how to say the following:
    • Hi
    • Bye
    • Boo
    • Dada
    • Mama
    • Chicken
    • Cow
    • Moo
    • Doggie
    • Piggie
    • Maggie (our dog's name)
    • Yeah (working on the "yes ma'am" and "yes sir")
    • Please (this one is hit or miss)
    • Up
    • There
    • Belly (She even knows where her belly is and will point to it!)
  5. She responds to us when we say the following:
    • "No" (doesn't always listen; tries us like any toddler but knows the meaning and has learned her lesson a couple times)
    • "Can I have a kiss?" She gives us a kiss
    • "Where's Maggie?" Looks for her and then points while saying "Maggie"
    • "Where's Cambrie?" Looks for her and then points while saying "Piggie"
    • "High Five" She high fives
    • "Where are the chickens?" Looks for them and then points to them; when she sees them she says either "There" or "Chicken"
    • "Where's daddy (or mommy)?" Looks for us and then runs to us and gives us a big hug
    • "Ready for your bath?" She says "yeah"
  6. Not only walking but RUNNING!
  7. Climbs our small set of iron stairs
  8. Climbs down not only the couch but also big beds
  9. Loves to jump on the trampoline
These are just the things I can think of off-hand.  This little lady is just growing way too fast, but we are most certainly loving EVERY SECOND!!
